Fall 2025 Buying: New York and Toronto
Danali's Fall 2025 buying trip has officially wrapped up, and we can't wait to share what's coming to the store this season!
Our travels began in New York, where we spent two nights at the Modern Haus Soho. It was our first time staying there, but likely not a spot we'd return to. While the hotel's central SoHo location was convenient for our appointments, the area gets quite noisy at night. We love trying new hotels each trip, so if you have any recommendations, send them our way!
We had dinner at Minetta Tavern on our first night—after hearing just how good the famous burger was—and it did not disappoint! Despite a wait even with a reservation, the packed restaurant welcomed us with complimentary champagne and seated us as quickly as possible. We shared the burger (of course), butter lettuce salad, French onion soup, and steak frites. The interior and vibe? A perfect 10/10.
Pro tip: If you can’t book online, call—they hold some tables for phone reservations. A must-visit for a true NYC French bistro experience!
Now for the actual work part of our trip! Let's run through our day-by-day schedule.
Day 1 - New York
9:00 AM: VEJA showroom—a new sneaker brand for us, coming next fall. Founded in 2005, VEJA creates sneakers differently, blending social projects, economic justice, and ecological materials. We’re starting with the classic Campo in a couple of colours for both men and women.
10:00 AM: Nudie Jeans—one of our longtime favourites. A Fall 2025 highlight: they are offering a few authentic-looking washes that mimic well-worn selvedge denim. You’re going to love these!
11:00 AM: Merz B. Schwanen—we're thrilled to introduce this sought-after (primarily) t-shirt brand for Spring 2025. If you've watched The Bear, and have a crush on Jeremy Allen White like the rest of us do, you know exactly what t-shirt I'm talking about.
12:00 PM: Wax London—always a favourite! You know and love them for their Whiting Overshirts, and next fall’s collection might be their best yet. Plus, our Wax reps (shoutout Matt and Ross) are the coolest!
2:00 PM: Corridor - another new brand we are introducing to the shop for Spring 2025. Based in Brooklyn, New York, this menswear brand is all about expressing personality through beautiful textiles. We're thrilled to be able to represent Corridor in Winnipeg!
3:00 PM: Naked & Famous Denim - are hands down some of our favourite people to work with in the industry. This Montreal-based, made in Canada denim brand is full of energy and excitement and it shows in their interesting and unique designs. They've introduced some amazing women's fits that you girls are going to fall in love with.
4:00 PM: Pure Blue Japan—PBJ shows out of Blue in Green, a gorgeous SoHo shop specializing in Japanese brands. Always a treat to stop in, get inspired, and check things out.
(We were supposed to be done after this but decided to take an earlier flight to Toronto tomorrow, as we had about 10 appointments scheduled in 10 hours... so we kept going).
5:00 PM: Man/Woman Show—one of the few tradeshows we attend these days. They always feature a beautifully curated selection of global brands in such an amazing space. We had a few appointments, but it’s always just fun to just browse.
5:30 PM: Howlin' Knitwear—the first booth we saw as we walked in, and I immediately spotted a sweater I had to try on. It was definitely the star of the show. We decided to skip the men's collection and focus on the women's pieces for this season—it was just too good.
6:00 PM: Reigning Champ - an essentials cult classic with some updates and changes to the brand, in order to bring you the same quality product you know and love at a very nice price point.
6:30 PM: Portuguese Flannel—since visiting their factory in Portugal in 2023, we’ve built a special relationship with brothers Antonio and Manuel, so it’s always a treat to see them in New York. The collection speaks for itself. You’ll see :)
We wrapped up our workday around 7:00 pm and headed to an exciting dinner reservation at Theodora, a Mediterranean spot in Brooklyn. I’ve been wanting to check it out since it opened but it’s always felt impossible to get a reservation. The night we were there, they were hosting a ticketed collaboration dinner with Bangkok Supper Club. It was a multi-course prix-fixe that beautifully combined wood-fired Mediterranean and spicy Thai flavours.
Day 2 - New York
9:30 AM: Citizens of Humanity—a cutting-edge denim brand focused on sustainability. We learned more about their Regenerative Cotton program, which we're proud to support. We bought our men's collection during this visit and will return for women’s Citizens and AGOLDE.
10:30 AM: Norse Projects—very impressed with their Fall 2025 lineup, especially the knitwear.
11:30 AM: 3Sixteen—a last-minute booking that worked out perfectly! Without giving too much away, you’ll see 3Sixteen at Danali soon.
We squeezed in a quick lunch at Thai Diner, recommended by 3Sixteen’s owner as "one of the best in New York." It didn’t disappoint! Busy even for a Wednesday lunch, we grabbed a table in the sunroom and had the pad si ew with short rib (which I loved last time) and delicious coconut-crusted chicken. Afterward, we grabbed our bags from the hotel and headed to the airport for our flight to Toronto!
Day 3 - Toronto
9:00 AM: Outclass—our first time seeing their beautiful flagship store in Toronto! The owner, Matteo, opened early to give us a private tour of the collection before the shop opened. He even brought croissants and coffee, which was super sweet! Outclass is celebrating their 15th anniversary this year, so exciting things are coming.
11:00 AM: Autumn Cashmere—our brand rep, Natalie, is one of our favourites, and we usually see her in New York. We've shared fun dinners over perfectly cooked steaks and crème brûlée creamed corn. This was my first visit to her Toronto showroom! The collection is incredible, full of cozy, rich colours and fabrics. We also learned some new history of the brand that made us love it even more. Plus, she brought the most amazing vegan tahini muffins from a local bakery. More snacks—our colleagues know us too well!
1:00 PM: Patrick Assaraf—the menswear collection is too good. Luxurious fabrics we couldn’t keep our hands off of. It makes us excited to skip past spring and jump into next fall.
2:00 PM: Tiger of Sweden—another impressive collection for this season. Expect a fuller selection of fashion suiting, with elevated classics. While we carry more men’s than women’s, both collections were standout.
3:30 PM: Astorflex—an easy-to-work-with, beautifully crafted, and incredibly comfortable shoe brand from Italy.
4:00 PM: New Balance—loved some of the new styles for next fall. Super cool to see samples before their release.
4:30 PM: Schott—another cult classic we can’t get enough of. Fall is Perfecto season, and we’re here for it.
5:00 PM: Hestra—simply the best gloves. New styles, new colours—we can’t wait.
That wraps up our first buying trip! We’re headed to Vancouver next week for more—stay tuned!
