Denim Measuring Guide

When looking for the perfect pair of raw, selvedge, or washed denim, it is important to have the correct measurements - especially if you are buying the denim online. Grab the best fitting pair of jeans you currently own and follow along with measuring guide below.
Step 1: Measuring The Waist
- Button up or zip up your jeans.
- Lay the jeans flat so that the top front waistband and back waistband are even with each other.
- Measure from one end of the waistband to the other.
- Double the measurement and this will be your waist measurement.
Step 2: Measuring The Front Rise
- Button or zip up your jeans and lay flat.
- Measure from the crotch seam to top of the front waistband.
Step 3: Measuring The Back Rise
- Button or zip up your jeans and lay flat.
- Measure from crotch seam to the top of the back waistband.
Step 4: Measuring The Upper Thigh
- Lay the jeans flat.
- Start your measurement at the uppermost part of thigh
- From the uppermost part of thigh, measure straight across the upper thigh perpendicular to the outside edge of the jean.
Step 5: Measuring The Knee
- Lay the jeans flat.
- Starting from the crotch seam, measure 11 in or 28 cm down the inside seam of the leg.
- From the 11 in or 28 cm mark, measure the leg from one edge to the other. Make sure the tape measure is perpendicular to the out-seam.
Step 6: Measuring The Inseam
- Lay the jean out with the inseam visible and press flat.
- Measure from the crotch seam down the inseam to the leg opening of the jean.
Step 7: Measuring The Hem
- Lay the jeans flat.
- Measure from one edge of the leg opening to the other.
